This article will cover details on metrics for the transition. There’s also an article on Metrics for Product Development.

<based on the book “KPI’s die wel werken” from Peter Geelen (Dutch only)> Start from the enterprise’s purpose (why) and strategic objectives (trade-offs at enterprise level). Then for each customer value stream/chain, determine the customer and internal values, and key process indicators (KPI’s) relevant for those values and the strategic objectives, while keeping a balance between timeliness, productivity and quality. For each KPI determine how and how frequently you need to measure and present. Finally, measure, check and act appropriately. As we are talking about ‘ indicators’ they usually don’t tell you exactly what’s wrong or what to do. They simply indicate and leave it up to you to check if something needs to be done and if so, what.
